Document and Location announce new member Jack Latham

We are delighted to announce the addition of a new member to the Document and Location research group.

Jack Latham’s work explores photography’s capacity to re-contextualise subject matter in order to question received narratives and interrogate how images themselves influence our understanding. Often working with documentary photography, Latham investigates multi-layered events – conspiracy theories inspired by an annual meeting of elites in North America, an unresolved double murder investigation in Iceland – in a way that embraces their contradictions and ambiguities.

Latham is the author of several celebrated photobooks including A Pink Flamingo (2015), Sugar Paper Theories (2016), Parliament of Owls (2019) and Latent Bloom (2020). His work has featured in solo exhibitions at prestigious institutions including Reykjavik Museum of Photography and the Royal Photographic Society. Latham’s projects have won multiple awards including the Bar-Tur Photobook award (2015), Image Vevey – Heidi.News Prize (2019) and BJP International Photography Award (2019).

Jack Latham is a Senior Lecturer in Photography at the University of the West of England, Bristol.
